Cocaine-Crack

Cocaine is extracted from coca leaves and originally developed as a painkiller. It is a powdery substance that is usually mixed with corn starch, talcum powder and/or sugar or other anesthetics like procaine or amphetamines. It can be sniffed, ingested or rubbed into the gums and it’s absorbed into the bloodstream through the nasal tissues. According to NIDA it directly affects the brain and therefore considered a powerfully addictive stimulant. It further mentions that “crack” is the street name given to freebase cocaine.
